MQX- The Fun Begins!!!

We arrived into Portland Oregon, on Monday evening and after a good nights rest we were ready for some hands on volunteering at MQX. Our first job, was to cut wadding (batting) into pre determined sizes, to go in some tote bags. The small amount you see pictured, is only a fraction of what we cut too.

As we were cutting the wadding, the machines started to arrive for the classrooms. (sorry for the slightly blurry picture) Two machines per table for this classroom. The machines just kept on coming in. This room only just had the machines rolled into it, when I took this pic. Work continued on setting it up properly, laying down electrical cords to make it all safe and secure.

One of the side benefits of volunteering at a quilt show is you get given gifts, as a way of saying thank you for your help. What a bonus for me to see my new favourite thread was one of the gifts!!!!
Tonight is Ice Cream social, where we get to finally start networking with other machine quilters and see what's in store for us from the teachers. We also see what's new. And the ice cream bit?? I'm of the understanding that it's a smorgasbord of ice cream!!!! Stay tuned on that one, for a future update.
Until the next time, happy quilting.-Julie.

  1. I'm so green with envy!! What a great opportunity for you!! There is nothing like the opportunity for networking and learning from a wonderful source such as MQX. It's always been my dream to attend at MQX, rather than attend at Houson. Strange how the quilting process is far more appealing to me. Enjoy!
