With an injury very early on in the quilting, a bit of home made first aid was the quick fix for a bleeding hand. In short, I happened to give myself a needle stick injury, and yes, the person that normally has the worst aim ever, happens to hit a vein with the needle!! Seriously, I couldn't have done that if I tried and have you seen how small your veins are at the base of your index finger? Trust me though, they bleed a lot. Anyway, with lightning fast movement my hand was away from the quilt when the red started to flow. A quick fix, as you see above, and we were back quilting and with no marks anywhere near the quilt! Phew!
Shimai brought me this lovely quilt that she had pieced, for quilting. It has a very elegant look to it, so we both agreed the quilting couldn't be to over the top. With the instructions, "do what you want", (I just love a customer that says that!) I decided that simple swirling lines would compliment the piecing and help soften the square look the piecing gives.
Warm Grey 4, was the selected Glide thread chosen, and just subtly makes it presence felt in the background. It is actually a very versatile colour and is quickly becoming my go to colour of choice.
It was a lot of fun working on this quilt and a real pleasure working with Shimai in being part of the process.
Until next time, happy quilting.-Julie.
