A touch of Elegance!

I just thought I'd share with you, a recent addition to studio 1. Yes, you did read that right! As we love all things beautiful, and even more so if it's vintage, a touch of class is definitely the atmosphere this  chandelier has created. Originally from a classic turn of the century home in Melbourne, this 5 arm chandelier became part of the scene in studio 1 only a couple of weeks ago. We do have other lighting in the room, more of a functional nature, but we occasionally also need the added ambience this chandelier produces, to get the creative juices flowing.
What you see happening in the background, is a Queen size quilt under construction. I loved the fabric range of Dianne's quilt so much, I needed one myself. The added bonus to this project is, there is enough fabric left over to do a knee quilt also. It doesn't get much better than that, 2 for 1!!
It's taken me a few weeks to get my motor into gear on this project, but I am now well under way with it. Design ideas for this one, have changed dramatically since I first thought of making this quilt. Originally meant to be an applique quilt, with the weeks that passed from idea to construction start, I realised the recipient may get a little more mileage from this quilt if I made it pieced instead of appliqued. (Only time will tell, if I called that one right!)
As you can see, there is still a bit to do to get it to the flimsy stage. More cutting, ruling up half square triangles and a fair bit more piecing await me. The stripey fabric is for the binding, just to add a bit of visual contrast.
