Coming Together!!

It's all slowly coming together, which is starting to make the process a little bit exciting. When the idea in your head starts to materialise and it actually looks like the idea in your head, one can breath a sigh of relief. With the 2 opposing borders painted, it was not looking like the idea in my head and I wasn't overly thrilled with how Colleens quilt was developing. It wasn't until I lay down the third border, that made me sigh with satisfaction, Mum and I were on the right track with it. There's still a lot more to do, such as a fourth border to be painted as well as corner motifs, but I have to say we are just loving how it is turning out. It just needs the colours to be lightened and it will match beautifully. My ideas for quilting it are changing a little. The border will be very organic and flowing, in keeping with the overall look. I'm still working on ideas for the internal part though. Initially I'd thought, ruler work, hence the planned empty areas between blocks, but I feel too much ruler work with straight lines may not be the way to go. Stay tuned on the eventual decision on that one!!
Lighting fast confirmation of my Houston Festival classes, means I am doing the happy dance, I can tell you!!!! I selected 6 classes and was successful in getting all 6. I will be learning from the following amazing teachers:

Dawn Cavanaugh (x2)
Linda V. Taylor (x3)
Irena Bluhm

Houston is going to be a busy week for me, but it's going to be a blast. I'm already counting down the weeks! With plenty to do between now and when we leave, I best get back to it.
Until next time, happy quilting.-Julie.
