Sherbert Fizz hits 100!

I guess it's a weird sort of name for a blog post, but you'll see the connection when I explain. Ash and I discussed several names for this quilt, but eventually we settled on Sherbet Fizz. (I think Tequila Sunrise could have worked equally as well here.)  And believe it or not, seriously, I hardly believe it myself, this is the 100th post for the blog!!

I quilted it in a design called swirls, and found it a lot of fun to do. I love the texture it gives to the quilt. The thread I used was Glide in the colour Linen. With those strong colours regularly changing in that middle section, I needed a colour that could make the transition from one colour to the next without screaming out for attention. I think Linen achieved that well.

I thought I would show you a close up. As you can see from the previous 2 photos, the rows of squares are straight. The lean in this photo is definitely due to camera operator error. I sailed fairly straight through this one, although it had issues at the start in the border and issues in the bottom border. Plenty of starch and a little steam, got things back into control for a neat finish. Mind you it was getting a little stressful in studio 2, as I was dealing with these issues. I had to frog an entire row, and then a bit more, but it was well worth the effort. With only the binding to go, which is to be multi coloured fabric so that it contrasts, it will be done.
