"And whose is this one?"

A question we get asked by my mum, every single time a quilt is in the construction stage is, "And whose is this one?" Since she is a quilt lover herself, she is quite interested in the process and knowing where the final destination will be for the quilt, once it is finished. In the case of this one, it is for Brooke, so it is not going anywhere! It took us a few hours to quilt on the machine today, which probably had something to do with the fact we needed to break for lunch, and then break this afternoon to go and get supplies to keep on quilting. (chocolate and also chips for the footy tonight!)
The quilt pattern we used was a pantograph by Jodi Beamish from Willowleaf Studio called Ornate. We were pleasantly surprised how it stitched up, as for some reason we anticipated it looking somewhat different. ( I think we've had a few too many late nights watching the tour, and given it's only day 6, it will be interesting to see how we interpret the quilting by day 21!) Ash and I both quilted this one, so as one got tired, the other took over. It was a great team collaboration. The fabric range is from Moda, and is called Old Primrose Inn. With just the binding to go, we are nearly done here. And on a final note, we would just like to welcome Carol, Judith, Lyn, Ardelle, Sue and Ladybird, as new followers to our blog.-Julie and Ash.

  1. I love the quilting, such a great design. I'm working on a disappearing nine patch right now, I love this arrangement of the blocks.

    1. Thanks Sam. I have to say, the circular quilting gave us a look we didn't quite expect. We are looking forward to seeing your disappearing nine patch when it's finished.

  2. Your Quilt looks great. I like the colours they make the pattern u have used stand out. I know what you me about your mum, mine always says "who is this one for" lo.

  3. Thanks Pauline. It's funny to hear someone else has a mum that asks that too! At least we know they take a positive active interest when we are in the creating zone.
